Rome Emperors News Release
ROME, GA - On a night full of glitz and glamour, the Rome Braves bats woke up to take game two over the Hudson Valley Renegades. The 2021 World Series Championship trophy was in the house on Wednesday night, and members of the Rome Braves staff received their World Series Championship rings.
Roddery Muñoz was stellar in his first start of the 2022 campaign, going just over three innings without giving up a hit. Muñoz wouldn't make it out of the fourth inning, but not before fanning 5 Hudson Valley batters and surrendering only two hits and one run. Jake McSteen would relieve Muñoz and throw a perfect two and one third of an inning, keeping the Hudson Valley bats at bay.
Beau Philip would get the offensive party started in the bottom of the second with a two RBI double to center. Bryson Horne would tack on one more on a single to left, driving in Drew Campbell. In the bottom of the seventh, Campbell would reach on a fielding error by Trey Sweeney, and Cody Milligan would score.
Landon Stephens would smack his second homer of the year off of the left field video board to make the score seven to one in the bottom of the seventh inning. An RBI double from Vaughn Grissom would cushion the lead to seven, setting it up for Austin Smith to slam the door out of the pen.
The Braves and Renegades pick right back up tomorrow night for game three of the six game series, with a 7:00 pm start at AdventHealth Stadium.
