Brandon Moss Named Allied Home Mortgage Big Dog of the Year

Portland, Maine- The Portland Sea Dogs and Allied Home Mortgage presented the 2006 Allied Home Mortgage Big Dog of the Year award to Brandon Moss prior to Friday evenings game with the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. Mike Jefferds from Allied Home Mortgage made the presentation. The Allied Home Mortgage Big Dog of the Year award is presented to the Sea Dogs player who earned the most Player of the Game awards throughout the season. Throughout the 2006 season 36 different Sea Dogs players won the award, Moss took home 14 Player of the Game awards to be named Allied Home Mortgage Big Dog of the Year.

Sea Dogs' outfielder Brandon Moss got off to a slow start in 2006 hitting .178 in April. Moss rebounded and hit .352 in June and .327 in August. On the season Moss is hitting .284. His 35 doubles is tied for first in the Eastern League and ties Nate Rolison for the franchise record. He ranks second in the league in hits with 141 and RBI's with 83, his 76 runs scored is tied for fourth in the league.

The 22-year-old has continually came through for the Sea Dogs this season in the clutch. Moss is hitting .338 with runners in scoring position and with 2-outs and runners in scoring position, Moss is batting .279 with 36 RBI. Moss was selected by the Red Sox in the eighth round of the June 2002 draft. He is a member of the Red Sox 40-man roster.

Moss was also the 2005 Allied Home Mortgage Big Dog of the Year.
