Branch earns Goalie of the Week honors

Fraser, MI – The United Hockey League announced Monday that Motor City Mechanics goaltender Rod Branch has been named the Southern Sports Supply Goalie of the Week. Branch recorded a perfect 4-0-0 week, including his first shutout of the season. All four wins came on the road.

The Fort St. John, British Columbia native has been between the pipes on a consistent basis for the Mechanics all season. On Wednesday, March 23rd, Branch stopped 20 shots in a 4-1 victory over Flint. In Friday's 5-2 win over Adirondack, Branch made 25 saves. Recording his first shutout of the season and the first in Motor City franchise history, Branch made 32 saves against Danbury for the 3-0 victory Saturday night. On Sunday, the Mechanics dumped the slumping Elmira Jackals 4-1 and Branch stopped 35 shots thrown his way.

Overall, Branch finished the week with a 1.00 GAA and a .966 save percentage. Branch is currently second in the UHL in minutes played (3,266) and saves (1,617).

The Mechanics are home March 30th, April 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 6th for their final home games of the season. Tickets still remain for all upcoming home games!
