Mallards Complete Perfect Week with Three Wins

Moline, IL – The Mallards swept through three Western Division foes this week going 3-0-0 vs. Rockford, Missouri and Kansas City. The Mallards began the week with a 4-3 shootout win in Rockford. On Friday, the Mallards returned home to record back-to-back blow-out victories. Quad City beat Missouri 8-0 and Kansas City 6-2 to complete the unbeaten week.

This week, the Mallards host Rockford on Wednesday. On Friday, the Mallards are in Kansas City to play the Outlaws. The team returns home for a pair of games vs. Kalamazoo on Saturday and Sunday.

Upcoming Promotions

· Saturday, April 2nd vs. the Kalamazoo Wings-Mark McFarlane Night-7:00 p.m.-McFarlane's number-22 jersey will be retired on April 2nd at The MARK. The Amherst, Nova Scotia native will be honored during a pre-game ceremony as the Mallards take on Kalamazoo.

· Saturday, April 2nd-Mark McFarlane Post-Game Reception

A post-game reception at R.J. Boar's in Davenport will follow Mark McFarlane Night. Tickets for this event are $25 and are available via the Mallards ticket office at (309) 764-7825. Hors d'oeuvres will be served and a cash bar will be available.

· Sunday, April 3rd vs. the Kalamazoo Wings-ALCOA Family Learning Day-3:00 p.m.-Professionals from throughout the Quad Cities will be in attendance to speak with area youth regarding the importance of education. It's also the return of the 4 for $40 ticket package. For $40 fans receive four upper sideline tickets, four sodas and four hot dogs. This offer is available exclusively through The MARK box office.

· Saturday, April 9th vs. the Fort Wayne Komets-Hall of Fame Night-7:00 p.m.-The Mallards induct the inaugural class of the Mallards Hall of Fame on April 9th. On-line voting is still going on at qcmallards.com.

· Wednesday, March 30th vs. the Rockford IceHogs at The MARK-7:00 p.m.-The Mallards wrap up March with a showdown vs. the Rockford IceHogs. The Mallards beat Rockford 4-3 in a shootout last Thursday in Rockford. The Mallards meet the Hogs each of the next two Wednesdays at The MARK to end the season series.

· Friday, April 1st vs. the Kansas City Outlaws at Kemper Arena in Kansas City, MO-7:30 p.m.-The Mallards end their season series with the Outlaws on Friday in Kansas City. The Mallards have won 9 of the previous 11 meetings including a 6-2 win at The MARK last Saturday.

· Saturday, April 2nd (7:00 p.m.) and Sunday, April 3rd (3:00 p.m.) vs. the Kalamazoo Wings at The MARK-The Mallards face off with the Kalamazoo Wings for a weekend pair at The MARK. Quad City is 1-1-2 this year vs. the Wings. In their only previous meeting at The MARK, the Mallards lost a 2-1 shootout to Kalamazoo.

Thursday, March 24th-Quad City 4 at Rockford 3-Shootout

The Mallards won another exciting game in comeback fashion on Thursday afternoon in Rockford. After being down 2-0 early in the first period, the Mallards fought back to come away with a 4-3 shootout victory at the MetroCentre. The IceHogs' first two shots of the game found the back of the net for an early 2-0 lead. Vince Malts started the scoring with his 11th goal of the year just under 4:50 into the contest. Terry Harrison tallied four minutes later on the power play. Patrick Nadeau cut the Hogs' lead in half at the 13:01 mark of the period with his 14th goal of the season. Terry Hollinger lit the lamp for his 11th goal of the season at the 16:35 mark of the opening frame to tie the game at two. Rockford scored the lone goal in the second on Nathan Lutz's 13th tally of the year. A.J. MacLean scored the equalizer with 5:12 gone in the third to force the shootout. Quad City's Jason Deskins and Rockford's Vince Malts each scored in the second round of the extra session. Joe Dusbabek scored the game-winner in round four as Robert Gherson stopped the final three shooters he faced for his 20th victory of the season.

Friday, March 25th-Missouri 0 at Quad City 8

The Mallards achieved a new season high for margin of victory in an 8-0 rout of the Missouri River Otters on Friday at The MARK. Robert Gherson recorded his third shutout of the year while Mike Kompon scored five points (two goals and three assists) for the first time in his career. Jason Deskins and Marty Standish scored in the first period to stake the Mallards to a 2-0 lead. Three second period goals gave the Mallards a five-goal cushion. Jason Deskins scored his second of the night and 25th of the season at the 10:14 mark of the period. Frantisek Skladany scored 37 seconds later. Jamie Thompson rounded out the second period scoring with his second goal as a Mallard. In the third, Mike Kompon scored a pair sandwiched around Andy Fermoyle's second goal of the year.

Saturday, March 26th-Kansas City 2 at Quad City 6

The Mallards scored four times in the final five minutes of play to win their fourth consecutive game on Saturday night at The MARK. Mike Kompon scored a pair of goals in the win to secure first star honors for the second straight night. The Mallards found themselves in a 1-0 hole after one period as Mike Murray scored for the Outlaws in the first. The power-play goal was Murray's eighth of the season. In the second, the Mallards scored twice to claim the lead for the first time. Troy Smith recorded his sixth goal of the season 7:40 into the period to give Quad City a 1-0 lead. The Mallards took the lead on Kompon's first marker of the night just 1:07 after Smith's goal. Kansas City's Matthieu Descouteaux scored early in the third to tie the game at two. The goal was the second power-play tally of the night for the Outlaws. With five minutes left, the game was tied at two before the Mallards took control with four straight goals. Patrick Nadeau started the onslaught with 4:12 left in the contest. Nadeau's 15th of the season reclaimed the lead for the Mallards at 3-2. Just 18 seconds later, Andy Fermoyle scored for the third time this year and the second time in two games. Mike Kompon added his second of the game less than two minutes later. Dave Stewart provided the finishing touch with his fifth marker of the year with 25 seconds left in the game.

Player of the Week-Mike Kompon is the Mallards nominee for UHL Player of the Week. After being shutout on Thursday in Rockford, Kompon recorded eight points (four goals, four assists) in two home games last weekend.

Goaltender of the Week-Robert Gherson is the Mallards nominee for UHL Goaltender of the Week. The rookie went 3-0-0 this week with a 1.67 goals against average and a .928 save percentage.
