
Kalamazoo Wings Week In Review

Kalamazoo Wings News Release
The K-Wings started the week on Wednesday (3/23) with a morning game against the Port Huron Beacons. Kalamazoo, who entered the morning game 0-2-0 in matinee games, headed into the third period trailing Port Huron 1-0. However, the final stanza belonged to the K-Wings, as Kalamazoo put up a season tying four-goal third period effort to skate past the Beacons 4-1. Forward Andrew Luciuk paved the way for the K-Wings comeback by adding a goal and three assists.
On Friday (3/25), Kalamazoo returned to Port Huron to face-off against the Beacons. In the opening period, the K-Wings scored the game's first two goals and would not look back. K-Wing Kevin Kerr (10,11) sparked the offensive assault by registering two of the K-Wings five goals in the Kalamazoo's 5-2 victory over Port Huron.
Kalamazoo concluded the week on Saturday (3/26) with a home game against the Rockford IceHogs. With the score tied at 1-1, the K-Wings would bring the ruckus crowd of 4,595 to its feet by posting a four-goal second period, which gave the K-Wings a 5-2 lead, which they would not relinquish. K-Wings' Daniel Carriere, Andrew Luciuk and Kory Karlander each contributed three points in the K-Wings 6-4 victory over the IceHogs.
Fast Forward
The K-Wings will hit the ice four times this week. Kalamazoo starts the week with game one of a four game road swing at the Kemper Arena this Wednesday, March 30th against the Kansas City Outlaws. The K-Wings are 5-1-1 against the Outlaws, who are in 5th place in the Western Division.
On Friday (4/1), the K-Wings will commence the month of April with a visit to the Family Arena to battle the Missouri River Otters. The Otters start the week in third place in the Western Division and hold a nine point lead over the Flint Generals for the seventh playoff spot in the UHL playoffs.
Kalamazoo will conclude the week with a pair of games on Saturday (4/2) and Sunday (4/3) in Moline, Illinois against the Quad City Mallards. The K-Wings are 3-1-0 against the Mallards this season, including a 2-1 shootout victory back on January 12th in Kalamazoo's lone other visit to The Mark. Quad City is in fourth place in the Western Division and five points ahead of Flint for the final playoff spot in the league.
Keep Up Those Winning Ways
The K-Wings are on a six-game winning streak and are unbeaten in regulation in their last nine games. In their last nine games, the K-Wings have a record of 8-0-1. Both the win and unbeaten streaks are the longest current win and unbeaten streaks in the league.
Road Warriors
Besides being unbeaten in their last nine games, the K-Wings are also on a eight-game road winning streak. The eight-game road winning streak is the longest current streak in the UHL and a K-Wings UHL franchise record. The UHL record for consecutive road wins is 11-games, held by the 1999-00 Quad City Mallards and B.C. Icemen. The K-Wings will start a four-game road swing this Wednesday, March 30th in Kansas City.
One More Win
With their next victory, the K-Wings will reestablish their UHL franchise record for most victories in a season. With 45 wins, this years K-Wings team is tied with last year's club for most wins in a season.
Feeling Lucky
Forward Andrew Luciuk enters this week on a four-game point streak. The four-game streak is the longest current streak by a K-Wings player. In his last four games, the veteran forward has recorded an astonishing 10 points (2 goals, 8 assists).
The Obscure Stat of the Week
When the K-Wings outshoot their opponents, they usually win. On the season, the K-Wings are 31-12-3 in games that they outshoot their opposition. Lifetime, the K-Wings are 107-68-17 when they have more shots than their opponents.
