Fort Wayne, IN â The Komets took both games of a weekend home doubleheader Friday and Saturday to improve to 45-22-5 for 95 points after 72 games and a share of the Western Conference lead with Rockford. 2 weeks and 8 games remain on the Fort Wayne 2004-05 regular season slate before post-season action.
Friday night the Komets clipped the visiting Rockford IceHogs 3-2 in a shootout. Danny Stewart (LW) and Tom Nemeth (D) scored Fort Wayne goals in regulation while Colin Chaulk (C) and Sean Venedam (LW) took the Komets to victory in the extra frame. Goalie Tyler Masters stopped 25 of 27 shots in regulation and added 5 saves while facing 6 Hog shooters in the shootout for the win. It was the last meeting of the season between the 2 conference rivals with the Komets winning the series 5-3-0.
Saturday the Komets concluded a stretch of 4 straight home games with a 5-2 win over Missouri. Venedam notched a pair while P.C. Drouin (LW), Tom Nelson (C) and Dustin Virag (RW) each added Komet tallies. Nelson also passed 2 assists for a his 5th 3-point night of the year. Masters earned his 16th win of the season stopping 33 of 35 River Otters shots in his 4th straight appearance in the Komet net. The Komets improved to 4-3-2 vs the Otters this season with 1 meeting remaining April 8 at Missouri.
Tonight (Monday, March 28) the Komets will skate at Kansas City in a make-up game of the match originally scheduled for Jan. 5. Tonight's game starts at 8pm Fort Wayne time and there will be no Fort Wayne radio or Fort Wayne radio webcast. Friday the league-leading Muskegon Fury make their final visit to Fort Wayne at 8pm. Saturday the Komets will travel to Motor City to face the Mechanics at 7:30pm. Sunday the Komets return home for their regular season finale against the Adirondack Frostbite at 5pm. The annual Komet year-end player awards will be presented immediately following the game. There also will be a free Wendy's family skate on coliseum ice after the awards ceremony.

Playoff tickets for the first 2 Komet home games will go on sale this Wednesday, March 30 at the Coliseum Ticket Office and www.TicketMaster.com at 10am.
Season Ticket Holders 2005 Komet playoff ticket packages will be available for pick-up starting Tuesday, March 29 at noon at the Komet general offices, 1010 Memorial Way, Fort Wayne, IN. Season ticket holders also have the opportunity to pick up their playoff ticket packages at the Komet's last 2 home games of the regular season this Friday vs Muskegon at 8pm and Sunday vs Adirondack at 5pm. Free Komet Yard Signs will be given away exclusively to season ticket holders when they pick up their playoff tickets.

Komet Ironmen.....4 players have skated all 72 Komet games to date including Sean Venedam, P.C. Drouin, Danny Stewart and Rob Guinn.
Milestones......Chris Grenville (RW) skated his 400th UHL career game Friday night vs Rockford......Colin Chaulk (C) passed his 200th Fort Wayne career assist Saturday vs Missouri.
Streaking Komets: Sean Venedam (LW) has a 6-game point streak (3-4=7).....Colin Chaulk (C) is riding a 6-game point streak (2-8=10).
March madness and stuff.....for the month of March Colin Chaulk and Chris Grenville each lead the Komets with 3 goals, 13 assists and 16 points.....Troy Neumeier leads with +7 (Neumeier leads UHL with +43, Komet record is +45 set last year by Kevin Schmidt).....Danny Stewart has the most penalty minutes with 57.....13 players have skated all 12 games in March to date.....Grenville leads in shots with 59.....Jonathan Goodwin tops the team in power play goals with 4 and game winners with 3 for March....going into April the Komets have a Fort Wayne UHL record low 5 shootout losses on the season in 11 shootout games (the Komets had a UHL season record low 10 shootouts last year, 4-6)....when the regular season is complete coach Greg Puhalski will have coached a record career season high of 80 games.

Komets add Campbell to roster.....due to Kevin St. Pierre going on the injured reserve list, the Komets added goaltender Cory Campbell to the roster Thursday, March 24. Campbell was claimed off waivers from the Motor City Mechanics after appearing in 14 games with Motor City (5-6-1, 4.02 gaa).
