Brahmas Unable To Find Game In Youngstown
February 5, 2008 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Fort Worth Brahmas News Release
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (February 5)- The Brahmas received an early wake up call Tuesday morning as they played Northeast division opponent Youngstown for a 9:30 AM CST faceoff on the road. Texas proved not to be early risers as they were defeated 4-1.
Brahmas goaltender David Cacciola was tested early when Youngstown forward Mark Odut scored a goal at the 1:38 mark in the first. The period ended with Texas outshooting Youngstown 13-8.
Both teams demonstrated a tenacious side, especially shown when heavyweights Milan Maslonka of Youngstown and Texas' Brent MacSween dropped the gloves in the second at 3:27. The fight led to a Brahmas powerplay, but the SteelHounds took advantage with a shorthanded goal a minute within the penalty. Brahmas forward Anders Strome fought back with his offensive skills scoring an even strength goal from Justin Kinnunen, his team leading 22nd goal of the season.
The SteelHounds powerful netminder Andy Franck proved to be on his game in the third stopping all 20 Brahmas shots. The Hounds were able to slide the puck by Cacciola twice in the final period putting Youngstown up 4-1.
Despite winning 7 of their last 9 games, the Brahmas were unable to hold off the SteelHounds, ending their four game winning streak.
Texas' next game is tomorrow against the SteelHounds at 6:05 PM. They will wrap up their road trip Saturday evening in Bossier-Shreveport for a 7:05 PM start. The Brahmas will return home to the NYTEX Sports Centre Sunday, February 10 for an afternoon match against the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs at 3:05 PM.
