Former Sundog Mike Wall Called Up to NHL

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - The Arizona Sundogs Hockey Club of the Central Hockey League, in its short two-year existence, can say that a former player has been called up to the National Hockey League.

Former NHL parent club, the Colorado Avalanche, recalled goaltender Mike Wall on Monday, February 4 from the American Hockey League's Lake Erie Monsters.

Wall, 22, has appeared in 16 games for the Monsters this season, posting a 4-7-4 record with a 2.82 goals against average (GAA) and .917 save percentage (SV%). Acquired from Anaheim on Feb. 27, 2007, Wall appeared in four NHL games as a member of the Ducks in 2006-07. In four NHL appearances, Wall is 2-2 with a 2.97 GAA.

The Telkwa, B.C., native appeared in nine regular season games with Arizona in 2006-07, compiling a 6-3-0 record with one shutout, a 2.20 GAA and a .917 SV%, helping the first-year club to Game 7 of the second round of the 2007 CHL Playoffs.

Wall becomes the first player to be called up to the NHL after playing for the CHL Club. Other former Sundogs currently on the Lake Erie roster include Brent Kelly, Mike Vernace and Dan DaSilva.
