February 5, 2008 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Corpus Christi IceRays News Release
The Corpus Christi Rayz announced the signing of defenseman Jason Lepine on Tuesday afternoon. Lepine will join the Rayz in Prescott Valley as the team gets ready to take on the Arizona Sundogs. The Rayz have also placed defenseman Grant Clafton on 30-day injured reserve and defenseman Evan Stoflet on 15 day injured reserved. The Rayz will return to the American Bank Center on February 15th when they host the Laredo Bucks. Get your individual Rayz tickets at the American Bank Center Box Office, any Ticketmaster outlet, or online at ticketmaster.com. For more ticket information, or group discounts, call the Rayz at 361.814.PUCK.
Lepine spent last season in Corpus Christi, but was not active on the playoff roster. In the off-season, the rights of Jason Lepine, along with Tony Johnson and Todd Paul were dealt to the Wichita Thunder in return for forward Joe Blaznek. The 22 year-old Lepine attended training camp with the Thunder, but has spent the majority of the season with the Knoxville Ice Bears of the SPHL. In 11 games, Lepine tallied 2 goals and 7 assists.
Last season, in 43 games with Corpus Christi, the Ontario-native scored 4 goals and had 10 assists. He completed 3 seasons in junior hockey with the Cornwall Colts of the CJAHL before joining the Rayz in the beginning of the 2006-2007 campaign. Lepine accounted for 48 goals and 96 assists in 160 games (just under one point per game).
Before their injuries, Rayz defensemen Grant Clafton and Evan Stoflet totaled 6 points (1 g, 5 a) in 29 games and 8 points (2 g, 6 a) in 42 games respectively.
The Rayz are proud to be celebrating a decade of hockey in South Texas. Individual game tickets are currently available. Get your Rayz tickets today at www.ticketmaster.com, at any Ticketmaster outlet or the American Bank Center. Rayz group discounts are also available. For more information, please call the Rayz at 361.814.PUCK.
