Johnson Returns, Vitek Leaves Scorpions

[ RIO RANCHO, N.M.]-The Scorpions will head into the three game week with a roster shuffle. Erik Johnson has been activated from the injured reserve while Tim Vitek has left the team.

Johnson returns after spending close to a month nursing an upper body injury. Originally acquired in a trade from Youngstown, the forward has provided a spark to the Scorpions offense.

The 5'9", 170-pounder has played in 17 games for the Scorps scoring 14 points (2G, 12A). When adding his games with Youngstown, Johnson has played in 33 games scoring 23 points (6G, 23A) during the 2007-08 season.

Tim Vitek has chosen to leave New Mexico and return to the Knoxville Ice Bears in the Southern Professional Hockey League. The forward came to the Scorpions from Knoxville on December 15th.

In 20 games, Vitek scored eights points and collected eight penalty minutes. The Dresden, Ontario native was often on the "shutdown line" responsible for playing against the opponents top scoring line.

Enjoy a big week of Scorpions home games starting Wednesday when Odessa visits. On Friday and Saturday Corpus Christi will travel to Rio Rancho. Saturday is Rio Rancho Night and Stanley Bobblehead night. The first 1,500 fans insider the Santa Ana Star Center gates receive a limited edition Stanley bobblehead courtesy of the City of Rio Rancho. All games drop the puck at 7:15 p.m.

The Scorpions are offering tickets for only $7 for military members, youth and senior citizens the remainder of the season. Also, take advantage of the Scorpions "All You Can Eat Weekend Special." Eat all the hot dogs, sodas, nachos and popcorn you want while sitting in a corner seat for only $20 during weekend home games.
