Brahmas Top Blaze in Shootout, Win Third Straight

November 11, 2011 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas - The Brahmas extended their winning streak to three, topping the Blaze in a shootout.

After a scoreless first period, the Brahmas got on the board first in the second period with a goal from T.J. Fox. For Fox, it was his fourth of the season. But after a scrum left Texas short two players, Bloomington took advantage of a 5-on-3 edge with an easy Travis Granbois score right in front of the net.

Just 42 seconds into the third period, Brahmas alternate captain Chad Woollard broke the tie with his first goal of the season. Woollard led the CHL in goals last year with 46, but had yet to find the back of the net before tonight, despite putting a team high 22 shots on goal heading into Friday night's matchup with the Blaze.

Down by a goal with one minute left in regulation, the Blaze pulled goalie Marco Emond, and with 20 seconds remaining, Bloomington got an equalizer from Aaron Dawson, his third goal of the season.

Overtime went scoreless, and the Brahmas put two past Emond in the shootout, the game winner coming from forward Jordan Kary. T.J. Fox scored the other goal in the shootout.

The Brahmas and the Blaze will face off again on Saturday night at 7:30 pm at the NYTEX Sports Centre. For ticket information, call 817-336-4423 or visit www.brahmas.com. The NYTEX Sports Centre offers speedy and reliable Wi-fi provided by Great Auk Wireless. Also, visit ZuRoma at the NYTEX Sports Centre and Keller locations.
