Brahmas Lose Physical Match Versus Allen
October 29, 2011 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Fort Worth Brahmas News Release
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas - The Brahmas lost a hard-fought and physical game to the Americans at the NYTEX Sports Centre tonight by the score of 5-1.
The Brahmas outshot the Americans 12-5 in the first period, but Allen got out in front 1-0 with a goal from Trevor Hendrikx with 2:56 left.
The Americans came out firing in the second period, outshooting the Brahmas 15-3. With 4:26 left, Keith Johnson slipped one by Texas goalie Steve Silverthorn, putting Allen up 2-0 heading into the third period.
The third period was an ugly one for the Brahmas, as they allowed goals to Jim McKenzie, Brian McMillin and Trevor Ludwig.
Allen goaltender Rejean Beauchemin was almost unbeatable, as he stopped 18 of the 19 shots fired by the Brahmas. Silverthorn made 23 saves for Texas, but allowed five goals, as the Americans blasted 23 shots on goal in the final two periods, compared to only seven for the Brahmas.
Neither team was able to convert on powerplays, each going 0-3.
On a high note, the Brahmas got on the board for the first time this season behind a third period goal by Mark Ehl.
The Brahmas travel to Tulsa tomorrow night, and then turn right around to face off against the Oilers again on Sunday at 4:00 pm at the NYTEX Sports Centre.
