Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (October 9) - The Brahmas lose a heartbreaker tonight 3-2 to the Tulsa Oilers, as they let a 2-1 third period lead slip away. After the first period ended in a scoreless stalemate, the second period saw a lot more action. The Oilers got on the board first with a powerplay goal from Sean Erickson. But the Brahmas didn't wait long to respond, as Phil Fox blasted one by Tulsa goaltender Ian Keserich just three minutes later. With under two minutes remaining in the period, the Brahmas went ahead 2-1 behind an unassisted Calin Wild goal right in front of the Oiler's net. Wild was just added to the Texas roster before yesterday's game against Allen, and the Winnipeg native made an instant impact with his first score of the season. Midway through the third period, the Oilers got an equalizer from Jeff Terminesi. Just one minute later, Tulsa got another score, this one on a rebound by Dylan Clarke to give the Oilers a 3-2 lead with six and a half minutes left. Tulsa would hold on, as the Brahmas manage to fire only five shots in the final period, as opposed to 15 for the Oilers. Steve Silverthorn stopped 26 shots for Texas, and Ian Keserich gets his second win versus the Brahmas this season behind 21 saves in net. The Brahmas fail to convert on a powerplay again tonight (0-4), whereas the Oilers netted two powerplay goals on five chances. Texas falls to 0-3, and looks to tomorrow afternoon for their first win of the 2011-12 season. The Brahmas take on the Oilers once again on Sunday at 4:00 pm at the NYTEX Sports Centre.
