
Comeback Falls Short for Arizona in 4-2 Loss

PRESCOTT VALLEY, AZ - After closing a three-goal deficit to one, the Arizona Sundog fell short against the Missouri Mavericks on Saturday night in a 4-2 final at Tim's Toyota Center.
Despite the loss, Sundogs forward Kyle Hood extended his point streak to five games with an assist.
Enter the third period trailing 3-0, Arizona closed the gap to 3-2 as Craig Macdonald scored a power play goal 5:27 into the frame and Luke Erickson added another midway through on a rebound from a Tyler Butler shot. John-Scott Dickson added the empty net goal for the Mavericks to seal the win however.
Hood's assist came on Macdonald's tally on the power play.
Missouri took control of the game with a pair of first period goals. Vern Cooper scored his first of the season 8:02 into play. Dickson then made it a 2-0 game after tipping in a power play goal with four minutes left.
Brandon Coccimiglio extended Missouri's lead to 3-0 early in the second period on an even-strength goal seconds after the Mavericks third power play of the night expired.
Charlie Effinger stopped 42 shots for the Mavericks for his fourth win of the season. Levente Szuper took the loss for Arizona with 34 saves on the night.
The Mavericks finished 1-for-7 on the power play while Arizona went 1-for-3.
The Sundogs begin their first road trip of the season on Friday, when they visit the Allen Americans for a pair of weekend games. Puck drop for both contests is scheduled for 5:05 PM PST.
