
Bucks Drop One to the Bees

LAREDO, TX: The Laredo Bucks, of the Central Hockey League, close out opening weekend by losing to the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees 6-3 Saturday night.
The Laredo Bucks and the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees once again went to battle Saturday night. The Bees stung first at the 5:23 mark, with an even strength goal from Zac Pearson. Shortly after the goal, Justin Styffe and Jason Beeman dropped the gloves. Less than two minutes after the altercation, Zac Pearson found the net again, this time it was a powerplay goal at 7:16 in the period. The Bees went 2 for 2 on the powerplay when David Marshall scored with 8:24 left in the first period, giving the Bees a 3-0 lead.
The Laredo Bucks once again came out quickly in the second, scoring only 54 seconds into the period. Todd Griffith scored his first powerplay goal of the season, with an assist from Neil Trimm making the score 3-1. Killer Bee Dan Nicholls would make the score 4-1 at the 3:31 mark. The Bees once again found the net at 7:46 in the period. The goal was scored by Dan Gendur. The Bucks would make a goaltending change after the goal, giving Ryan Rondeau his regular season debut. Torrie Jung had faced 27 shots and made 22 saves before he was retired. The Bucks captain Adam Rivet scored his third goal of the year, when he found the net at 9:42 in the second. This would make the score 5-2 in favor of the Killer Bees.
The Laredo Bucks and Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees would play a tighter third period. At 9:53 in the third Aaron Lee would make the score 6-2 for the Killer Bees. Laredo Bucks Joseph Harcharik would score his first professional goal at 13:24, making it a 6-3 game. Laredo Bucks goaltender Ryan Rondeau faced 21 shots, making 20 saves on the evening.
The Laredo Bucks now look ahead as they will face the Tulsa Oilers, Friday November 4th, and the Texas Brahmas, Saturday November 5th. Both games will start at 7:30pm at the Laredo Energy Arena.
