Fort Worth Brahmas News Release
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (March 10)-It had been 74 days since the Brahmas were defeated in their own barn, but their 16 home game consecutive winning streak came to an end Tuesday night at the NYTEX Sports Centre in the hands of the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs in a 2-1 loss.
It was a goaltending showdown in the first period with Brahmas netminder Brett Jaeger facing down the âBugs own Ken Carroll. The men in the mask turned aside 16 shots in the period, Jaeger 6 and Carroll 10, to push both teams into the intermission scoreless. It was a Brahmas powerplay goal by Travis Banga that put the home team up 1-0. The physical play picked up throughout the middle frame highlighted by a fight from Brahmas enforcer Nathan Saunders and Bossier forward Neil Clark. With two minutes remaining in the period J.J. Martin went one-on-one with Jaeger, but it was a kick save by the man between the pipes for Texas to keep Bossier off the board.
Bossier came back in the third with a powerplay goal from Joe Blaznek, his 21st of the season. Four minutes later Neil Clark followed up with the game winner, beating Jaeger for a Mudbugs even strength goal. The Brahmas went 1 for 7 on the powerplay and were outshot 22-28.
The Brahmas will hit the road to face the Wichita Thunder Friday evening for a 7:05 PM faceoff. Texas will wrap up the home regular season Saturday and Sunday at the NYTEX Sports Centre. On Saturday the Laredo Bucks will come to town for a Southeast divisional matchup at 7:05 PM. The Brahmas will play Wichita Sunday, March 15 on Fan Appreciation Night for a rare 6:05 PM start. Those in attendance for the final home game will receive opportunities to win several prizes and a post game jersey auction will follow all events.
