
Thinel, Moyer, Pierce Finalists for CHL Awards

(Odessa, TX) - Three members of the Odessa Jackalopes are finalists for Central Hockey League awards handed out towards the end of each season.
Sebastien Thinel is a finalist for the CHL's Most Valuable Player award after scoring 35 goals and 51 assists through 58 games this season. Thinel is first in the league in goals scored and his 86 overall points are also best in the CHL. His 51 assists are tied for first in the CHL. The Jacks' assistant captain is also second in the league with 19 power play goals and tied for first with 29 power play assists. The other finalists are Kevin Beech (MIS), Rliey Nelson (COL), Chris Richards (CRP), and Scott Sheppard (TEX).
The league MVP award has never been given to a Jackalopes player in the franchise's history.
Russ Moyer is one of five finalists for the CHL's Most Outstanding Defenseman standing in the top 10 among defensemen in goals, assists, and points. Moyer's 49 points and 38 assists are both third among blue-liners, while his 11 goals are tied for seventh in the defensive rankings. Moyer was also named to the CHL All-Star Team midway through the season. The other finalists are Sam Ftorek (AMA), Dale Lupul (BOS), Kevin McLeod (TEX), and Aaron Schneekloth (COL).
Jeff Pierce has been at the top of the rookie stats since the start of the season and it has earned him the nod as a finalist for the CHL Rookie of the Year awards. Pierce is second among rookies with 56 points on the year and eight game-winning goals. His 40 assists are tops among first-year players. The other finalists are Darryl Smith (LAR), Nicolas Dumoulin (RGV), Adam Perry (ARZ), and Torren Delforte (NMX).
