Quick-Hit Gorillas Win Weekly Award

The Central Hockey League (CHL) announced today that the Amarillo Gorillas three-goal outburst in a 45 second period of the second period in their 6-5 win at Odessa on February 28th has been voted the winner of the CHL Performance of the Week for the week ending March 1st. Warren Galloway, Austin Sutter and Alex Greig scored the three goals for the Gorillas.

Amarillo earned 201 of the 552 votes cast during the weekly poll accounting for 36% of the vote. Coming in second place earning 116 votes was Arizona's Marco Emond earning a 1-0 shutout/shootout win at Corpus Christi on February 27th.

The Gorillas had fallen behind 3-0 in the first period before the second period outburst that eventually led to the 6-5 victory.

The nominees for the CHL Performance of the Week for week 20 of the season (Mar. 2-8) are as follows:

-Odessa's Jeff Pierce scoring two third period goals in the Jacks 3-1 win vs. Laredo on March 6th

-RGV's Jesse Bennefield's hat trick in the Bees 5-4 win at Arizona on March 6th

-Rocky Mountain's Marty Magers making 45 saves in a 5-1 win at Colorado on March 6th

-Bossier-Shreveport's Ken Carroll making 27 saves in 28th career shutout, a 1-0 victory over Wichita on March 6th

-Odessa's two-goal third period in 3-2 win vs. Mississippi ending the RiverKings 11-game win streak on March 8th

Fans can vote for the winner through Monday, March 16th with the winner being announced on Tuesday, March 17th.
