Boyle Pitches a Gem in Somerset's 7-3 Win

Portland, Maine - Sean Boyle (7-4) pitched seven scoreless innings and struck out nine to lead the Somerset Patriots (9-8, 53-33) to a 7-3 victory over the Portland Sea Dogs (12-5, 42-44) on Saturday evening at Hadlock Field.

Boyle scattered just two hits in a game he matched career highs in innings pitched and strikeouts to earn the win.

The Patriots jumped in front in the second on a Mickey Gasper (6) two-run home run.

In the next inning, Elijah Dunham (12) launched a solo home run to make it a 3-0 game.

Max Burt (7) hit Somerset's third homer of the game in the fifth, a solo shot for a 4-0 advantage.

The Patriots added two more in the seventh on an RBI single by Rodolfo Duran and a sacrifice fly by Gasper.

Burt (8) later hit his second home run of the game in the eighth for a 7-0 lead.

Stephen Scott (8) got Portland on the board in the eight with a two-run shot to right center field.

The Sea Dogs added another run in the ninth on a Christian Koss RBI double for the 7-3 final.

Brian Van Belle (4-2) suffered the loss after he allowed four runs of eight hits in five innings pitched.
