Last Game: Finishing a four-game series at home against the South Bend Cubs, the Hot Rods lost just their second home series of the second half with a 6-4 defeat at Bowling Green Ballpark on Thursday. The Hot Rods finished their season series against the Cubs with a 6-11 record.

NEWS AND NOTES

Pitching Prowess : Since July 1, the Hot Rods pitching staff owns a 3.08 ERA (118 ER in 403.2 IP), almost a full run better than the previous three months of the season. RHP Jose Mujica is 3-0 with a 1.20 ERA in his last seven starts (45 IP, 6 ER) while Mike Velasquez is 4-0 with a 2.09 ERA (38.2 IP, 9 ER) since July 1.

Playoff Positioning : Coming in to this three-game series, the Bowling Green Hot Rods and the Great Lakes Loons are both in position for a 2016 Midwest League postseason run. For the Hot Rods, their magic number is at 11 to clinch a playoff spot as they are currently sitting 8 games ahead of the Great Lakes Loons and Lake County Captains with 19 games to play. Great Lakes is 0.5 games back of the Lansing Lugnuts for the last playoff spot in the Midwest League East.

Vs Loons: The Hot Rods and Loons are playing for the fourth time this season and second time at Bowling Ballpark. This season, Bowling Green owns a 6-5 record against Great Lakes, splitting a four-game series with the Loons in Southcentral Kentucky back in May. The two teams play each other 14 times this year.

Runs Scored: T he Hot Rods are the only Midwest League team with over 600 runs scored (613) and are one of seven MiLB teams that are outscoring their opponents by 100 or more runs (+109). Only Reading (AA), Scranton Wilkes-Barre (AAA), Lynchburg (A+) and Trenton (AA) have a greater run differential than Bowling Green.

League Leaders: By earning the win on the mound on Wednesday, LHP Genesis Cabrera became the first pitcher in the Midwest League this year to double-digit wins (10-4). Other league leaders include Kevin Padlo leading the Midwest League with 74 walks. As a team, the Hot Rods lead the league in runs scored (613) and stolen bases (151).

News, Notes, Records : Bowling Green tied a franchise-record with 7 doubles on 4/26 vs. CLI (Last set: 7/20/15 vs. LC) ... During game two of a doubleheader with DAY on 5/21, the Hot Rods played their shortest 7-inning game in franchise history (1:26), shattering the previous shortest game by 10 minutes... With a GS-homer and 5 RBI on 5/22 at DAY, Brett Sullivan became the first Hot Rods player with 5 RBI in a game since 6/30/13 (Leo Reginatto)... On 5/31 at Lake County, Hot Rods pitchers set a franchise-record by issuing 12 walks, breaking the previous record of 11 that was set six other times in seven prior seasons..In the final game of the first half on 6/19 at FW, 2B Brandon Lowe tied a franchise-record with 5 walks in a single game, last set in 2010 by Bennett Davis.... On 7/4, Brett Sullivan tied the Hot Rods record with three doubles against LC, becoming the fifth player in franchise history with 3 2B in a game... In a span from 6/25 to 7/18, Brandon Lowe broke a franchise record with an 18-game hit streak, with the previous high being set by KD Kang in 2009 (17 games).. The Hot Rods nine-game win streak from 7/11 - 7/22 was tied for the longest in franchise history, which was set in 2011 (June 8 - June 17)... On 7/24, Tyler Brashears broke the franchise record for the most innings thrown in a relief appearance with 6.1 IP of scoreless baseball... From 7/7 - 7/17, Manny Sanchez tied the franchise record by hitting a HR in five straight games, a record only set once (Derek Dietrich - 2011).. In July, the Hot Rods set a franchise-record with 9 straight home wins (7/5 to 7/27), tied a franchise-record with 9 straight win overall (7/11 - 7/22) and tied a franchise-record with a HR in 10 straight games (7/15 to 7/25) set in 2015... In early August, the Hot Rods finished a roadtrip at DAY/LAN with a perfect 7-0 record, the first time they've finished a roadtrip of six or longer games with a perfect record in franchise history...The Hot Rods have swept two, four-game series on the road this year (AT DAY, AT FW), something they haven't done since 2012... Bowling Green has tied a franchise-record with two, nine-game win streaks (previous record set in 2012) and they won a franchise record nine straight road games.
