Bowie Races Past the Sens 9-2

August 31, 2012 - Eastern League (EL1)
Harrisburg Senators News Release

Friday night in front of 6,554 fans the Harrisburg Senators dropped the series opener to the Bowie Baysox 9-2. Bowie racked up nine extra base hits, which marked a season high allowed by Harrisburg. Meanwhile, the Senators tallied just three hits in the game as Bowie's Jacob Pettit earned his second win against the Sens in eight days.

Trailing 1-0 the Senators tied the game in the bottom of the third when Seth Bynum led off with a solo homer to left.

In the fourth, Bowie took the lead using a pair of doubles to go ahead 3-1. The Senators pulled within a run in the fifth on a leadoff homer by Destin Hood. The home run by Hood was his third on the season.

That would be the closest the Senators would come. Bowie scored five times in the seventh to break the game open. The Baysox scored two more in the eighth for their final tally of nine runs. The Senators went without a hit over their final four at bats. The only Senator hit to not leave the ballpark was an infield single by Brian Goodwin leading off the first inning.

Pettit tossed seven innings and struck out nine to earn the win for Bowie. Pucetas lasted 6 1/3 innings and allowed five runs on nine hits to take the losing decision.

Tomorrow the teams face off in a doubleheader. Game one is slated to begin at 5:30 p.m. Chien-Ming Wang takes the mound in game one and Ryan Tatusko starts for the Sens in the nightcap. Coverage of the games begins at 5:10 p.m. with the Sens Pre-Game Show on 1460 WTKT. The game can also be heard through the Sens website and through the iHeart Radio Mobile application.
