Harrisburg, PA - The Bowie Baysox (76-62) moved to a new season high 14 games over .500 as they pounded out 14 hits in a 9-2 victory over the Harrisburg Senators (62-76) on Friday night.

Despite the win the Baysox win, the Akron Aeros clinched the Western Division title with an 8-1 win over the Richmond Flying Squirrels. The Baysox will now open up the playoffs on Wednesday, September 5 at Prince George's Stadium against the Aeros.

The Baysox struck first in the top of the third inning. Brian Ward hit a one out double and then scored when the next batter Antoan Richardson also doubled to make the score 1-0.

Seth Bynum immediately answered back in the bottom of the third with a lead off home run to make the score 1-1.

In the top of the fourth inning, the Baysox took the lead back. Robbie Widlansky led off with a double and then scored on a two-out single by Zelous Wheeler. Josh Barfield followed with an RBI double to knock in Wheeler and give the Baysox a 3-1 lead.

Destin Hood cut the lead to one in the fifth inning when he hit the second lead off home run for the Senators and made the score 3-2.

The Baysox batted around in the seventh and scored five more runs. Zelous Wheeler led off the inning with a double and scored after two wild pitches by Kevin Pucetas. Brian Ward then walked and scored on a triple by Richardson. After a pitching change, Jonathan Schoop knocked in Richardson with an RBI double. Then with the bases loaded Ronnie Welty capped the scoring with a two-run single to give the Baysox an 8-2 lead.

In the eighth inning, the Baysox added another run when Ward hit an RBI double that knocked in Zelous Wheeler to make the score 9-2.

Jake Pettit got the win going seven innings and allowing two runs on three hits while equaling a season high with nine strikeouts and no walks.

Kevin Pucetas got the loss going 6.1 innings and allowing six runs on nine hits with five strikeouts and two walks.

Tomorrow the Baysox and Senators will face off in a doubleheader beginning at 5:30 p.m. The Baysox will have RHP Tim Bascom (6-6, 4.34) going in game one while the game two starter is TBA. The Senators will send RHP Chien-Ming Wang (1-4, 5.82) and RHP Ryan Tatusko (3-5, 3.72) to the mound.
