Binghamton Rumble Ponies News Release

The Binghamton Mets scored first, but the Bowie Baysox scored more often, beating the B-Mets 11-5 at Prince George's Stadium Sunday. Binghamton took two of three in the series, but the loss snaps their four-game win streak, as they end their six-game road trip with a 4-2 mark.

Rashad Eldridge led off the first for Binghamton (27-36) with a single, moving to second on an error, before Jorge Padilla drove him in with a single off the third-base bag for a 1-0 B-Mets lead.

Bowie (27-34) would counter in the second, taking their first lead of the series. Tony Alvarez and Mario Delgado began the frame with back-to-back homers off Miguel Perez before Leo Daigle reached on a two-base error, moved to third on a groundout and scored on a fielder's choice for a 3-1 Baysox lead.

The B-Mets rallied to tie in the third when Kevin Rios hit the first pitch he saw from Brian Finch over the leftfield wall for a homer. Two batters later, Ray Navarrete walked, moved to third on Padilla's double and scored on a Finch (3-5) wild pitch, knotting the score at three.

Bowie re-took the lead in the third on RBI doubles off Perez (1-3) by Cory Keylor and Delgado. They put the game away in the fifth, scoring on another RBI double by Delgado before a Pete Shier groundout brought in another run for a 7-2 Baysox lead. Daigle's sixth-inning RBI single and Jeff Fiorentino's three-run blast in the seventh put Bowie up 11-3.

Binghamton closed out the scoring in the eighth, when Andy Wilson drew a leadoff walk from Brian Forystek before Jay Caligiuri followed with a two-run homer to left. Those were the only runs Forystek allowed in three innings of work, as he earned his first save of the year.

After an off-day Monday, the B-Mets start a six-game homestand, opening a three-game series with the New Britain Rock Cats Tuesday. Lefty William Collazo (5-4, 2.45) gets the ball for Binghamton against fellow southpaw Errol Simonitsch (5-4, 3.09) of New Britain. Game time is 7:00 from NYSEG Stadium with the Horizons Federal Credit Union Pre-Game Show kicking off the broadcast at 6:45 on Newsradio 1290 WNBF.
