
Cannon launches two homeruns in Fisher Cats win over Altoona

Manchester, NH - Chip Cannon went 3-for-4 with two home runs and four RBIs to power the New Hampshire Fisher Cats to an 11-5 win over the Altoona Curve Sunday afternoon at MerchantsAuto.com Stadium.
Cannon and David Smith (3-for-5, HR, 2B, 4 RBI) hit back-to-back home runs for New Hampshire (27-33) in the bottom of the seventh inning, capping a three-run frame against Altoona reliever James Johnson.
Mike MacDonald (6-3) earned the win, allowing four runs -three earned- on nine hits in six innings. Jim Bullard (2 IP, 1 R, 0 ER) and Tracy Thorpe (1 IP, 0 R) came out of the bullpen to finish the game.
Matt Lorenzo (0-1) , making his Eastern League debut, suffered the defeat for Altoona (36-25). Lorenzo was reached for five runs on four hits and four walks in three-plus innings.
The Fisher Cats have an off day on Monday before visiting Trenton for three games. Kyle Yates (2-5, 4.70) is scheduled to pitch against heralded New York Yankee prospect Philip Hughes (2-3, 4.46). New Hampshire will return to MerchantsAuto.com Stadium for a three-game series with the Portland Sea Dogs beginning Friday night.
