
Boston Assigns Eight Players to Providence

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins, member of the American Hockey League, announced that the Boston Bruins have assigned eight players to the P-Bruins' training camp, which begins on September 22 at 10:00a.m at the Rhode Island Sports Center, Rte. 146, North Smithfield, RI. Training camp is open to the public. The group of eight includes forwards Chris Collins, Nate DiCasmirro, Dennis Packard, Wacey Rabbit, Jeremy Reich and T.J. Trevelyan, and goaltenders Mike Brown and Jordan Sigalet.
Reich, 27, rejoins Providence after a 23-point (8g, 15a), 77-game season in which the left wing also totaled a career-high 235 penalty minutes. The seventh-year pro has 149 points (58g, 91a) and 1,109 PIM in 419 games, all but nine spent in the AHL with Providence, the Houston Aeros and Syracuse Crunch. The other nine games came in 2003-04 with the Columbus Blue Jackets in the NHL. From Craik, Saskatchewan, Reich was drafted 39th overall (second round) by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft.
Brown, 21, begins his second professional season following a stint in Providence last year and much of 2005-06 spent in the East Coast Hockey League with the Dayton Bombers and South Carolina Stingrays. With the P-Bruins, the goaltender from Baldwinsville, New York, saw action in a pair of games, playing 42 minutes while blocking 11 of 13 shots for a 2.87 goals-against-average and not receiving a decision. In the ECHL, the goalie played in 21 contests, finishing with a 4-13-4 record and a 3.83 GAA. Brown was selected by Boston 153rd overall (fifth round) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
Sigalet, 25, begins his second professional season after a 19-11-2, 2.55 GAA showing in net for Providence a year ago. The goaltender's season was highlighted by a pair of five-game winning streaks, along with a one-game call-up to Boston. A product of Bowling Green State University, where he was the first ever goalie to be named team captain, Sigalet had a 34-46-16 record for the Falcons with three shutouts, a .915 save percentage and a 2.98 GAA. From Surrey, British Columbia, Sigalet was Boston's sixth pick (seventh round) and 209th overall, in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
Collins, 22, an undrafted signing by Boston, is a four-year product of Boston College. While playing for the Eagles, the Fairport, New York, native, tallied 122 points (63g, 59a) in 162 collegiate games. Last year, the left wing posted career-highs with 34 goals and 29 assists en route to leading the Hockey East in scoring and being named one of three finalists for the Hobey Baker Award. Along the way, Collins was named the Hockey East's Player of the Year, a member of the All-Star First Team and a NCAA East All-American.
DiCasmirro (DEE-caz-meer-o), 28, begins his sixth pro season with his fifth AHL club. In 270 career games with the Hamilton Bulldogs, the Toronto Roadrunners turned Edmonton Roadrunners and the Grand Rapids Griffins, the undrafted right wing and product of St. Cloud State has 129 points (45g, 84a). Last season, the native of Atikokan, Ontario, doubled his previous single-season best in assists with 36 and also tallied a career-highs with 52 points and 97 penalty minutes. His plus-27 rating also ranked third in the AHL.
Packard, 24, begins his third professional season after back-to-back seasons split between the Springfield Falcons (AHL) and Johnstown Chiefs (ECHL). In 124 pro games, the left wing and native of Kingston, Pennsylvania, has 37 points (10g, 27a). Previously, Packard spent four seasons at Harvard University, tallying 65 points (32g, 33a) in 131 Crimson games. He was drafted 219th overall (seventh round) by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
Rabbit, 19, begins his professional career after five junior seasons with the Saskatoon Blades of the WHL, during which the center accumulated 186 points (80g, 106a) in 259 games. Last season, the Lethbridge, Alberta, native captained the Blades following his selection by Boston, 154th overall (fifth round), in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
Trevelyan, 22, begins his first professional season after four years with the St. Lawrence University Saints of the ECAC. The undrafted left wing from Mississauga, Ontario, posted a career-high in points last season with 48 (20g, 28a) in 40 games. In 150 collegiate games, Trevelyan had 154 points (78g, 76a) and 204 PIM. During his senior season, Trevelyan led the ECAC in scoring, he was named a First-Team All-American, the ECAC Player of the Year, an ECAC First-Team All-Star and a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award.
