VOORHEES, NJ - The Phantoms spread the wealth Thursday with five different players scoring, but ended up dropping their home opener in overtime, 6-5, to the Lowell Devils, the new AHL affiliate of the New Jersey Devils, at the Virtua Health Flyers Skate Zone at Voorhees. Stephen Gionta chipped home his second goal of the game with just over 22 seconds remaining in the extra frame to take the win.

The teams were tied 3-3 at the end of the first period, 4-4 at the end of the second and 5-5 at the end of regulation. Eric Meloche, Ryan Potulny and John Slaney collected first period goals, with Tony Voce scoring in the second period and Matt Ellison in the third. Scott Munroe played the first two periods in net before giving way to Jere Myllyniemi in the third period.

The Phantoms and Devils will meet in another exhibition contest tomorrow night at 7:00 at the Richard J. Codey Arena at South Mountain in West Orange, NJ. Updates will be posted after the game to phantomshockey.com.

After tomorrow's game, the Phantoms play two more exhibition games in the Delaware Valley. They'll host the Hershey Bears on Monday, Sept. 25 at 1:00 at the Virtua Heath Flyers Skate Zone at Voorhees, and will conclude their exhibition slate with a matchup against Norfolk on Sunday, Oct. 1 at 2:00 at the Polonia Bank Flyers Skate Zone at Northeast. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the respective Skate Zone facilities.

With kids tickets only $8, the Phantoms will begin the 2006-07 regular season on Friday, Oct. 6 at 7:05 PM, against the Norfolk Admirals at the Wachovia Center. Individual tickets are on sale now at phantomshockey.com or by calling 800-298-4200.
