The Hamilton Bulldogs, in partnership with Standard Radio Inc. announced today that for a fifth-straight season, the hockey club will broadcast all preseason, regular season and Calder Cup Playoff games on 50,000-watt Hamilton radio station 820 CHAM 'The Legend'. Derek Wills, the American Hockey League's James H. Ellery Memorial Award winner in the radio category in 2004-2005, will return for his sixth season as the Bulldogs' Play-By-Play Announcer, while popular Hamilton sportscaster Al Craig returns for his fifth full season as Colour Commentator for all home games and select road games.
"I am elated that the Hamilton Bulldogs will not only be extending our partnership with Standard Radio, but that we'll also be expanding on it. The promotional and broadcast agreement that we've reached with Standard Radio will give hockey fans throughout Southern Ontario the opportunity to tune into our team of Derek Wills and Al Craig for their unique and entertaining call of every 'Dogs game this season". Coverage of the 2006-2007 season will kick-off on Wednesday, September 27th, when the Hamilton Bulldogs will travel to Oshawa, Ontario for their preseason opener versus the Toronto Marlies. Game-time is 7:30 p.m. Hamilton's second preseason contest is scheduled for Friday, September 29th at 7:30 p.m. in Syracuse, New York, where they will combat the Crunch. The Bulldogs' third preseason tilt will take place on Saturday, September 30th at 4:00 p.m., when they will host the Toronto Marlies at the Southwood Arena at the Woodstock District Community Complex in Woodstock, Ontario. The 'Dogs fourth and final preseason match-up is set for Sunday, October 1st at 4:00 p.m., when they will welcome the Syracuse Crunch to the Niagara Falls Memorial Arena in Niagara Falls, Ontario.
All four Hamilton Bulldogs preseason games will be broadcast live on 820 CHAM "The Legend" and online at www.hamiltonbulldogs.com.
Broadcasts of the 'Dogs' 80-game regular season schedule will begin on Friday, October 6th, when the team will take on their North Division rival the Manitoba Moose in their 2006-2007 home and season-opener at Copps Coliseum. Game-time is 7:30 p.m.
All preseason and regular season broadcasts will begin with a pre-game show 20 minutes prior to the scheduled game-time.
In operation since 1936, the American Hockey League is the top development league for all 30 National Hockey League teams. Over 80 percent of NHL players are AHL graduates, and more than 350 AHL players were recalled to the NHL during the 2005-2006 season alone.
