
Bossartâ??s Blast Seals Win for Williamsport

Williamsport Crosscutters News Release
The Williamsport Crosscutters picked up a 4-3 win in the first game of a double header Friday night against the Batavia Muckdogs. Austin Bossart would deliver the eventual game winning run in the bottom of the fourth inning with his first home run of the season. The Cutters improve to 14-2 at Susquehanna Bank Park this season and 19-7 overall on the season.
The Cutters would answer a Batavia run in the top of the first inning with two runs of their own to take a 2-1 lead. Jesus Posso blooped a ball into right field to score Mark Laird from first base on a hit and run play to tie the game 1-1. Venn Biter gave the Cutters a 2-1 lead by beating out a fielder's choice at first base that allowed Jose Pujols to score.
Williamsport added to their lead in the third inning with Posso picking up his second RBI of the game scoring Laird from second base. Leading 3-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning, Bossart drove a Gabriel Castellanos over the left field wall to make it a 4-2 game. Batavia would pull within a run of the Cutters in the fifth inning off a RBI single by Brad Haynal. Jose Taveras went five innings allowing seven hits while striking out five batters. Taveras picks up his third win of the season scattering three runs.
Rob Tasin was called upon to work the sixth and seventh innings for Williamsport allowing just two hits. Tasin struck out three Batavia batters en route to his league leading sixth save of the season. Bossart would finish the game 2 for 3 with a 1 RBI and Posso went 2 for 3 with 2 singles and 2 RBI. Laird reached base twice for the Cuttters going 1 for 2 with a single and a walk.
