January 20, 2014 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Wichita Thunder News Release
Wichita, KS (January 20th) - The Central Hockey League announced Monday that Thunder forward Jon Booras has been selected as the Oakley CHL Player of the Week for the period ending on January 19th. This is the second league award earned by Booras this season as he was named as the Easton CHL Player of the Month for December. This is also the second Player of the Week honor for the Thunder as Matt Robinson took home the prize three weeks back.
Booras kicked off the week with a three-point outing on Friday night in a 7-1 rout of Quad City. He bookended the second period, scoring twice that helped put the game out of reach while also assisting on a first period goal scored by Mike Wilson. On Saturday night, Booras assisted on Ian Lowe's shorthanded goal that sparked a three-goal third period and helped the Thunder claim a 4-3 overtime win at Missouri. He closed out the weekend recording the game-winner against the Mavericks with less than a minute to go in the second that broke a 1-1 tie. Overall, he finished with five points (3g, 2a), was +4 and claimed number one star honors in two of the three contests on the weekend.
The veteran forward is riding a three-game point streak, is tied for the team-lead in goals scored and leads the team in assists (15g, 27a 42 points). Since the first of December, Booras has scored 10 goals while racking up 13 assists in 17 games. He has been a catalyst for the Thunder's second four-game winning streak of the season.
In recognition of his achievement, Booras will receive a special gift from Oakley. To learn more about all of Oakley's products, visit www.oakley.com.
