
Sundogs Drop Game in Overtime to Americans, 3-2

Prescott Valley, AZ - The Arizona Sundogs dropped the game in overtime to the Allen Americans, with a 3-2 loss Monday afternoon at the Allen Event Center. The Sundogs are 6-1-2 in their last nine games and have picked up points in eight of those games.
At the end of the first period both teams were tied at one goal apiece. Americans opened the period scoring a goal 9:12 into the frame when Garrett Klotz tucked the puck under Chris Rawlings pads picking up the goal. The Sundogs evened up the score with a power play goal after Darryl Bootland was assessed a two minute slashing penalty, allowing Kevin Baker to score the goal, with assists from Bryan Cameron and Justin Pender. The Americans received a 4-on-3 power play after Sebastian Geoffrion and Trevor Hendrikx were each given two minutes for a delay of game penalty and 35 seconds later Jordan Clendenning was given a cross checking minor which Arizona successfully killed off.
The second period remained scoreless and saw 40 penalty minutes issued to the Sundogs and 12 minutes issued to the Americans. Paul Mcilveen broke the deadlock while on the power play with 5:14 remaining in the third period from Bryan Cameron and David Rutherford. With 10 seconds left on the clock, Arizona looked to take the game against Allen until Phil Fox found the back of the net with nine seconds left in regulation and the extra attacker. 1:09 into overtime, Greger Hanson scored a top shelf goal over Arizona's goalie, Rawlings securing the win for the Americans.
Rawlings, came out blocking 24 shots on goal. The Sundogs were outshot 27-24. Arizona was 2-7 on the power play and Allen was 0-6. The Sundogs head to Vail, Colorado for a two game set against the Denver Cutthroats in their Colorado Tour.
