McQuade Hat Trick Leads Beast Past Chill

Brampton, Ont. - The St. Charles Chill got two point nights from Nicklas Lindberg, Martin Hlinka, and Dan Weiss but the Beast's Josh McQuade registered a hat trick en-route to a 6-3 Monday night win for the fellow expansion team.

Brampton (20-16-3) got the scoring started in the first period when former Chill defenseman Steve Makway logged a power play goal at the 3:44 mark but St. Charles (9-25-5) answered midway through the frame when Charles Lachance tallied his second with the Chill on assists from veterans Martin Hlinka and new addition Frank Littlejohn.

Brampton struck quickly once again to begin the second period, taking a 2-1 lead just over two minutes in, but once again St. Charles would respond. Nick Lindberg netted his fifth on the third assist from Mike MacIntyre and eighth from Dan Weiss. Brampton killed off a 5-on-3 power play to take the momentum and took back the lead with a pair of goals in a four minute span late in the period to take a 4-2 lead into the locker room.

Brampton stretched their lead to 5-2 on the third goal from McQuade just over five minutes into the third period but less than a minute later St. Charles answered with a power play goal from Weiss with Hlinka and Lindberg picking up the helpers. The Chill could not penetrate the Beast zone as the two teams played scoreless until Brampton added a sixth goal with under five minutes left that sealed the 6-3 win.

St. Charles will take on the defending Central Hockey League champion Allen Americans in Texas this coming weekend before returning to The Family Arena.

The Chill is back on home ice against the cross-state rival Missouri Mavericks on College Night, Wednesday, January 29th at 7:05.
