Denver Cutthroats News Release
Rapid City - The Rapid City Rush hosted the Denver Cutthroats for the final night in the three-game series on Monday, January 20 at Rushmore Plaza Civic Center. The Denver Cutthroats defended an early lead during Monday night's game to defeat the Rapid City Rush 5-2.
Daniel Barczuk (Troy Schwab) gave the Cutthroats an early lead with a shot to the back of the Rush net. On his return from injured reserve, Robin Soudek (Dan Moriarty, T.J. Fox) scored his ninth goal of the season to give the Cutthroats a 2-0 lead. Garett Bembridge (Schwab, Barczuk) lit up the red light for Denver's third goal of the night to close the opening 20 minutes of play 3-0.
Less than a minute into the second period, Daniel Barczuk (Steve Kaunisto, Schwab) scored his second goal of the night to give the Cutthroats their fourth consecutive goal and a 4-0 lead over the Rush. Jared Brown (Justin Sawyer) fired the Rapid City Rush's first puck past the Denver Cutthroats goaltender Kent Patterson.
Garett Bembridge (Barczuk, Jason Cohen) scored his second goal of the night to give the Denver Cutthroats a 5-1 lead with 18:20 remaining in regulation. Winston Day Chief (Sawyer) made an effort to change the pace of the game with Rapid City's second goal of the night. However, it wasn't enough to stop the Denver Cutthroats 5-2 victory over the Rapid City Rush.
The Denver Cutthroats return home to host the Arizona Sundogs for the final pair of games of the Colorado Tour on Friday, January 24 and Saturday, January 25 at Dobson Ice Arena in Vail. Tickets are $25 general admission, visit DenverCutthroats.com or call 866.464.2626 for more information.
