SCHAUMBURG, IL - The Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, are proud to announce that the contract of Boomers starting pitcher Raul Jacobson has been purchased by the New York Mets organization. Jacobson will report to the Gulf Coast Mets of the rookie Gulf Coast League where he will remain a starter.

Jacobson, a 22-year-old Frontier League rookie, made his professional debut with the Schaumburg Boomers in June. The 6'1" 210 pound right-hander won two of his final three starts with the Boomers and posted 52 strikeouts along with a 2.76 ERA in 65 innings prior to his acquisition by the Mets.

Prior to beginning his professional career with the Boomers, the San Francisco, CA native started 14 games as a senior for the UC-Davis Aggies and led the team with 69 strikeouts and 95.2 innings pitched during the 2015 season.

Jacobson joins Boomers third baseman Mark Nelson and starting pitcher Seth Webster as Boomers players to have had their contracts purchased by a MLB organization during the 2015 Frontier League season.

The Boomers (32-46) continue a six game homestand at Boomers Stadium Thursday, August 20, with 21 & Over Night presented by Lagunitas. One lucky fan will drive away from Boomers Stadium in a gently used 1995 Mazda 626 courtesy of CJ Wilson Mazda. Ensure your place in the fun this weekend by calling (847) 461-3695 (FOWL). All games can again be heard on AM 1410 WRMN with the voice of the Boomers, Tim Calderwood.
