Washington Wild Things News Release
Washington, PA - The Washington Wild Things defeated the Windy City Thunderbolts 12-4 at CONSOL Energy Park Wednesday evening.
After an explosive first inning things quieted down until the sixth inning.
The Thunderbolts got on the board in the top of the first inning when Austin Gallagher hit a solo home run and took the early lead. But the lead was short-lived when the Washington bats erupted in the bottom of the inning. Washington batted, around scoring six runs on six hits, and chased Windy City's starter, Zak Wasserman.
Danny Jimenez, who entered the game in relief, was able to keep Washington off the bases until the fourth inning.
Momentum appeared to change in the sixth inning, , when The Thunderbolts threatened with three runs: Gallagher hit his second solo shot of the game, and teammate Max White followed suit with his own solo homer. Tyler Clark went on to drive in Ransom LaLonde, cutting the lead to 6-4.
But the Wild Things weren't done. Washington added insurance in the seventh and eighth innings. Danny Poma and Austin Wobrock both singled and drove in Sam Mende and David Popkins, respectively.
