Schaumburg Boomers News Release
WASHINGTON, Pa. - The Schaumburg Boomers were shutout for the second consecutive evening, falling 5-0 on the road to the Washington Wild Things to officially be eliminated from postseason contention.
Washington's Justin Hall struck out a season high 10 in a complete game shutout, the most strikeouts in a game by an opposing pitcher this year. Schaumburg tallied just six hits in the defeat, a night after managing only three. The Boomers have not scored since the fourth inning on Thursday. Schaumburg had a chance to open the scoring in the second inning with runners at second and third and one out but failed to drive home the game's first run. Mark Samuelson and Jovan Rosa registered back-to-back triples in the bottom of the inning to post the first run.
After scoring another run in the fifth, the Wild Things chased starter Cameron Roth from the game in the sixth by scoring three times to build a 5-0 lead. Roth finished the 2012 season by losing six consecutive starts. Washington registered only six hits in the game, but three were triples and five extra-base hits.
The Boomers (53-42) will close the first season in franchise history tomorrow night at 6:05 p.m. RHP Robby Donovan (10-5, 3.29) receives the start against RHP Gary Lee (7-4, 2.57).
