Washington Wild Things News Release

Washington, PA - Hot bats and Justin Hall's arm were key elements in The Washington Wild Things' 5-0 victory over the Schaumburg Boomers at CONSOL Energy Park Saturday night. Five of the Wild Things' six hits were for extra innings during the game.

The scoring got underway in the second inning when Jovan Rosa drove in Mark Samuelson, who had tripled, to get the Wild Things on the board. Rosa's hit appeared to be a home run, hitting the yellow fence, but the ball fell forward into the park, rather than backward, over the fence.

Rosa went on to double and score in the fifth when Darian Sandford drove him in, giving Washington a two run edge.

The scoring continued in the sixth when Andrew Heck tripled and scored on an error; with Nunziato on base, the Boomers opted to walk Shain Stoner, but Samuelson made them pay when he hit a two run double, increasing Washington's lead to five.

Justin Hall tossed a complete game shut out for the win, five hits, one walk, and striking out 10.

The Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Financial, and the Schaumburg Boomers are scheduled to meet for the final game of the regular season Sunday when first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Air time on WJPA 95.3 FM is 6:55 p.m. For more information and to purchase tickets, call 866-456-WILD.
