Charlie Lisk Set to Retire

September 1, 2012 - Frontier League (FL)
River City Rascals News Release

O'Fallon, Mo - One of the greatest players in Frontier League history has decided to call it a career. After 12 seasons in professional baseball, River City Rascal third baseman Charlie Lisk will retire from baseball following the final game of the season against the Windy City ThunderBolts, the team he began his record-setting Frontier League career with in 2006.

Charlie began his career in 2001 when he was selected in the 24 round of the Major League Baseball Draft by the Chicago White Sox out of Ft. Mill High School in South Carolina. After reaching as high as Class A in the Chicago system, Lisk found his way to the Frontier League where he signed with the Windy City ThunderBolts in 2006.

Lisk spent the majority of the final six years in the Frontier League where he was named to the All-Star team a record six times, including his MVP season of 2010. Charlie will retire as the Frontier League's career record holder in homeruns (127*) and RBI's (441*) while finishing second in games played (528*), at-bats (2032*), hits (571*), and third in runs scored (361*) while amassing most of those totals over his five years with the Gateway Grizzlies. *(***totals through games played 8/31/12)*

"Looking back on it I was lucky enough to put up the numbers I did and be able to have a job in this league for as long as I did, said Lisk. "I want to say thank you to the Frontier League, Bill Lee, and the numerous coaches and staff members I have had the honor to play for. I also want to send a special thank you to all my teammates I was fortunate enough to share a locker room with over the years, but most of all I want to say thank you to my wife Randi for being so supportive of me while I chased my dreams over the years."

The River City Rascals will have a pregame ceremony to honor Charlie Lisk on Sunday before the final game of the 2012 season. First pitch is set for 6:05 against the Windy City ThunderBolts.
