Bombers Assist Habitat for Humanity Project In Englewood

October 21, 2008 - ECHL (ECHL)
Dayton Bombers News Release

This afternoon the entire Dayton Bombers hockey team helped Dayton Ohio Habitat for Humanity on a building project in Englewood, Ohio. Captains Greg Labenski, Ryan Smyth and Joe Van Culin, along with Hockey Operations Assistant Jack Collins, equipment manager Chad Ray and the rest of the 2008-09 Bombers assisted in the building of a house on Ashoken Road in suburban Dayton.

"Dayton Habitat for Humanity is a great local organization and our team is grateful for the opportunity to give back to the community," said Bombers Team President Costa Papista.

Dayton Habitat for Humanity is a volunteer-driven, non-profit Christian housing ministry that works in partnership with community partners and families in need to provide simple, decent, and affordable housing. Dayton Habitat for Humanity seeks to eliminate poverty housing from Montgomery County by renovating or building houses, thus strengthening individuals, families, and neighborhoods through home ownership.

"It feels great to work as a team to help a family in need," Labenski said. "Our guys take pride in doing work like this, especially when the project is for a great cause like Habitat for Humanity."

Later this season the Bombers will welcome the family of the Ashoken build project to the E.J. Nutter Center for special recognition during a Bombers home game. This is the second time in three seasons that the Bombers have assisted Habitat for Humanity in a community building project.

The Bombers are on the road this weekend against Johnstown (Friday, October 24 at 7:05 p.m.) and Cincinnati (Saturday, October 25 at 7:30 p.m.).
