Bluefish Win Pitcher's Duel

(Bridgeport, CT) - The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Bridgeport Bluefish 2-1 on Friday night in the second game of a four-game series at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard.

The Bluefish opened the scoring on Prentice Redman's two-run homer in the first inning. Dan Lyons drove in a run with a single in the fifth inning to put the Ducks on the board, but Bridgeport pitching kept Long Island from pulling even.

Bluefish starter Trevor Reckling (1-1) earned the win, allowing one run on four hits in six innings. Nick DeBarr (2-7) suffered the loss for Long Island, giving up two runs on five hits in seven innings. Jeff Fulchino pitched a perfect ninth to record his 11th save of the year.

Ray Navarrete led the Ducks with two hits.

The Ducks continue their four-game set against Bridgeport Saturday night. First pitch from The Ballpark at Harbor Yard is set for 6:05 p.m. Right-hander John Brownell takes the ball for the Ducks against Bridgeport righty Josh Butler. Long Island returns home on Monday, July 29 to take on the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs. Game time is slated for 7:05 p.m., with the Bethpage Ballpark gates opening at 6:05.
