Patriots Clobber Camden 9-2

Camden, NJ "" The Somerset Patriots (9-12, 55-36) crushed the Camden Riversharks (8-14, 32-60) 9-2 Friday evening from Campbell's Field in front of 4,816 fans. The Patriots have won five of their last six ball games. The Riversharks have lost nine of their last 12 contests.

In the top of the third inning designated hitter Aharon Eggleston slapped a two RBI single to give Somerset and early 2-0 lead.

Camden tied the contest at 2-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning as right fielder Johnny Drennen slugged a two run blast (5) to deep right-center field.

Somerset retook the lead in the top of the sixth inning as catcher Adam Donachie sliced a RBI single make the score 3-2 in favor of the Patriots.

The Patriots plated a pair of runs in the top of the seventh inning as Eggleston (7) and right fielder Cory Aldridge (8) each drilled solo homers to right field as Somerset expanded their lead to 5-2.

Somerset tacked on four insurance runs in the top of the ninth inning to take a commanding 9-2 lead which would be the final score. Donachie and Aldridge roped RBI doubles while first baseman Jeff Baisley socked a two RBI single.

David Harden (10-2) earned the win tossing seven innings while surrendering two runs and striking out a season-high seven batters. Jake Hale (1-2) suffered the loss lasting seven innings and giving up five runs on 11 hits.
