
BlueClaws Swept in Double-Header

Lakewood, N.J. â The Lakewood BlueClaws (9-24) and the Kannapolis Intimidators (17-16), Single-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, played a double-header after being rained out on Tuesday night. Kannapolis swept the double-header winning game one 2-1 and game two 3-1.
The Intimidators scored early in game one to take a 1-0 lead. With two outs and a runner on second Josh Hansen connected for an RBI base hit scoring Layne Berry.
Kannapolis scored their second run in the third inning, again off the bat of Hansen. Jose De Los Santos led off the inning with a base hit then advanced to second on a wild pitch. De Los Santos advanced to third on a ground out then scored on Hansen's sacrifice fly to right and the Intimidators were up 2-0.
Maximo Delacruz (L, 1-4) pitched six innings allowing two runs on five hits while walking two and striking out two. Jack Egbert (W, 2-1) pitched a complete game shutout for Kannapolis allowing just four hits while striking out six.
In game two Lakewood took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a throwing error from pitcher Grant Hansen. Timi Moni and Sean Gamble both led off the inning with a walk. Mike Dzurilla then dropped down a sacrifice bunt and Hansen threw the ball away allowing Moni to score.
Carlos Carrasco (L, 1-4) kept the Kannapolis bats quiet through the first five innings before back-to-back homers gave the Intimidators a 3-1 lead. With two outs in the sixth inning Clinton King singled then David Cook followed up with a two-run homer. Chris Kelly stepped in next and connected for a solo-homer and Kannapolis was up 3-1.
Carrasco pitched six innings allowing all three runs on six hits while walking two and striking out three. Dzurilla went 3-for-6 in the double-header with two singles and a double.
Oneil Perez (W, 1-0) pitched two innings in relief allowing just one hit while striking out one and Matt Zaleski (S, 5) closed out the final inning allowing just one hit.
The BlueClaws and Intimidators wrap up their series Thursday night in Kannapolis. Andy Baldwin (0-3, 6.30) will go the mound for the BlueClaws as he looks for his first win of the year. Kannapolis will send left-hander Ray Liotta (2-0, 2.70) to the mound.
This season, the Lakewood BlueClaws are celebrating their fifth anniversary of providing great fun in the Jersey sun. Among the great promotions this year, kids twelve and under eat free every Monday night home game courtesy of ShopRite. In addition, the BlueClaws will host games against affiliates of the New York Yankees and New York Mets.
