Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release

Kannapolis, NC – Jack Egbert (2-1) earned the first shutout of his career in Game One and David Cook went back to back with Chris Kelly swatting homers over the left field wall to take Game Two. Egbert got the I's started right with seven innings of four hit shut out ball walking none and striking out seven. In front of a couple thousand local school kids, the I's took a 1-0 lead in the first when Josh Hansen singled home Boomer Berry for his 24th RBI of the year. Hansen drove in another in the third flying a sacrifice to right. Jose De Los Santos came around to score.

Game Two got started just after noon with Grant Hansen matching up against Carlos Carrasco. Hansen got in big trouble in the first, walking the first two, and throwing a ball away up the right field line allowing an unearned run to come to the plate. But after that, the Oklahoma City native settled down and battled his way to three scoreless innings. Carrasco baffled the I's through five innings, holding a 1-0 advantage into the sixth when Cook slammed a two run homer off the clubhouse roof in left field. Kelly hit the very next pitch off the visitor's clubhouse to give K-town a 3-1 lead. Oneli Perez (1-0) came on with two scoreless innings of relief to get the victory. Matt Zaleski earned his fifth save.

The I's and BlueClaws will meet again tomorrow evening at 7:05. All the Intimidators action this season can be heard at www.intimidatorsbaseball.com.
