BlueClaws Roll to 7-1 Thursday Win

JERSEY SHORE, NJ - Cristian Hernandez gave up one run over five innings and the BlueClaws topped Asheville 7-1 on Thursday night at ShoreTown Ballpark.

The BlueClaws (3-9) have taken two of the first three in the series with the Tourists (2-10).

Jersey Shore opened the scoring with four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Jared Carr singled home the game's first run before McCarthy Tatum doubled in two. Andrick Nava followed with an RBI single to give the BlueClaws a 4-0 lead.

- Jersey Shore BlueClaws (@BlueClaws) April 21, 2022 After Asheville got a run in the fifth off Hernandez, Andrick Nava doubled in a run to put the BlueClaws up 5-1. DJ Stewart singled home a run in the sixth inning and Ethan Wilson singled home a run in the eighth inning for Jersey Shore.

Hernandez (1-0) was the first BlueClaws starter to finish five innings in a game this year. He allowed three hits and one run. Cesar Gomez (1-2) took the loss, allowing four runs, three earned, in four innings.

Jared Carr stole a base for the BlueClaws, who have stolen t least one base in all 12 games and lead the minors with 37 on the year while being caught just three times.

Nava and Nicolas Torres each had had two hits for the BlueClaws in the win.

The teams continue their series on Friday night at 6:35 pm. RHP Ben Brown (0-0) will start for Jersey Shore.
