WILMINGTON, DE - The BlueClaws broke an 8-8 tie on a 13th inning Wilmington throwing error and Erubiel Armenta got the last three outs to give Jersey Shore a 9-8 win over the Blue Rocks on Tuesday.

The BlueClaws (42-52) picked up a win in the first of a 12-game trip and the series opener at Wilmington (43-53). The 13-inning game was the longest for the BlueClaws in the two seasons in which they've used the modified extra inning rule with an inherited runner beginning each inning on second base.

Blake Brown (2-1) allowed one unearned run over two innings to earn his second professional win. Erubiel Armenta threw a scoreless 13th to earn his first save.

DJ Stewart, who drove in four runs, got the BlueClaws on the board early with a two-run home run in the first inning, his 10th long ball of the season.

Wilmington, however, took the lead with six runs in the second, all charged to Jhordany Mezquita. The inning included a two-run single by Jack Dunn and a two-run double from Drew Millas.

Jersey Shore got two back to make it 6-4 and then Ben Pelletier tied the game with a two-run home run in the eighth inning. It was Pelletier's first home run back with Jersey Shore after he re-joined the team on Friday.

Stewart added a SAC fly in the 10th to give the BlueClaws the lead before Andrew Pratt tied the game with an RBI single with two outs in the bottom of the 10th inning.

BlueClaws starter Jhordany Mezquita gave up six runs in 4.1 innings of work before giving way to Aidan Anderson, JP Woodward and Mark Potter, who did not allow a run through the eighth inning. Carlo Reyes gave up an unearned run, the inherited runner, in two innings of relief.

Adam Hasley had four hits in six at bats while Logan O'Hoppe, Stewart, and Pelletier had two hits apiece.

The teams continue their series on Wednesday night at 7:05 pm.
