Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release

AUGUSTA, GA-Four early unearned runs paved the way for Augusta to take the series finale 8-2 from the BlueClaws on Saturday night.

The GreenJackets got one in the first inning on a Brett Pill single to score Emmanuel Burress, who had advanced from first to second on an errant pick-off attempt from Carlos Monasterios. Augusta got three more in the 3rd after Fidel Hernandez made an error with two outs, as Ryan Rohlinger followed with an RBI double and a two-run single to make it 4-0.

The BlueClaws (25-22) had taken the first three games of the series from the first-half champs of the Southern Division and failed to become the first team to sweep a series from Augusta (26-23) this season.

Lakewood trailed 6-0 before getting on the board in the 6th after Augusta starter Kevin Pucetas (14-3), who threw five shutout innings. Reliever Adam Ortiz did not retire a batter, allowed an RBI double to Gus Milner, and came out with the bases loaded. Paul Lucier came in and allowed an Alan Robbins SAC fly but got through trouble.

Pucetas joins Keith Weiser of Asheville as the league's only 14-game winners and his league- leading ERA falls to 1.80.

Monasterios (9-10) lost his fourth straight start, allowing eight runs (four earned) on ten hits over 6 1/3 innings of work. He came out in the 7th after a two-run double by Brett Pill.

The BlueClaws, who left the bases loaded in the first inning, left nine on for the game.

Lakewood now heads to Greenville, South Carolina to open a four-game series with the Drive (Red Sox). RHP Edgar Garcia (3-6, 4.62) throws the opener for the BlueClaws against LHP Dustin Richardson (5-7, 3.34). The first pitch on Sunday is at 4:00.
