
BlueClaws Fall 4-1 to Wilmington on Friday Night in ShoreTown

JERSEY SHORE, NJ - Viandel Pena drove in three and four Wilmington pitchers held the BlueClaws to three hits as the Blue Rocks topped Jersey Shore 4-1 on Friday in front of a sellout crowd at ShoreTown Ballpark.
The teams have split the first four games of the series with Wilmington (22-24/57-54) having taken 12 of 22 against the BlueClaws (18-28/43-69).
Wilmington opened the scoring in the second inning when Viandel Pena singled home Onix Vega with the game's first run. Jersey Shore tied the game in the bottom ot the inning. With two outs, Jared Carr, who had three hits last night, doubled to left-center and scored on an RBI double by Rixon Wingrove.
The Blue Rocks re-took the lead in the fourth, scoring three times after Matt Russell retired the first two batters of the inning. After a single and a walk, Viandel Pena tripled in a pair to give Wilmington a 3-1 lead. Cole Daily then singled in Pena to make it a 4-1 game.
Lucas Knowles (6-1) gave up one run over six innings to earn the win. The left-hander threw 20 pitches over his final three innings to retire the final nine hitters he faced.
Jersey Shore starter Matt Russell (5-8) took the loss, allowing four runs over five innings. The BlueClaws got scoreless relief from JP Woodward (1.1 innings), Rodolfo Sanchez (2/3 of an inning), Brett Schulze (one inning) and Carlos Francisco (one inning).
The teams continue their series on Saturday night at 7:05 pm. LHP Josh Hendrickson starts for Jersey Shore.
