Hagerstown, MD - The Lakewood BlueClaws (7-3) wrapped up their series with the Hagerstown Suns (3-7), Single-A affiliate of the New York Mets, with a 6-2 win over the Suns. A strong pitching performance from Maximo De La Cruz gave the BlueClaws a chance late in the game to rally for the win over Hagerstown.

Lakewood trailed 2-1 entering eighth inning before plating three runs on five hits to take a 4-2 lead. Mike Dzurilla led off the inning with a double, his second double of the game. Timi Moni then came in to pinch run for Dzurilla and came around to score on Sam Orr's RBI base hit to tie the game up at 2-2.

With one out in the inning Chris Klemm drove in the go-ahead run connecting for an RBI double plating Orr all the way from first for a 3-2 lead. Klemm moved up to third on Sean Gamble's ground ball out then Jason Jaramillo came up with an RBI pinch hit to score Klemm for a 4-2 lead.

Greg Golson led off the ninth inning with solo-homer, his first of the year, to give Lakewood a 5-2 lead. With two-outs in the inning Doug Gredvig connected for an RBI double plating Moni from third to cap off the BlueClaws scoring.

Hagerstown took the early lead in the game scoring in their first at bat for a 1-0 lead.

The BlueClaws tied the game up at 1-1 in the fourth on an RBI double from Dzurilla. Brad Harman led off the inning with a double then came around to score on the Dzurilla's double.

The Suns reclaimed the lead in the fifth when Ambiorix Conception connected for a two-out RBI double to put the BlueClaws up 2-1.

De La Cruz (W, 4-7) kept the BlueClaws in the game though allowing just two runs on eight hits over seven innings while walking one and striking out four.

Joe Bisenius and Jacob Barrack combined to pitch a perfect eighth and ninth inning with Bisenius pitching the eighth and Barrack closing out the ninth.

Lakewood continues their road trip in East Lake Ohio with three games against the Lake County Captains beginning on Monday night. The BlueClaws will send right-hander Matt Sweeney (0-0, 1.69) to the mound for his first start of the year. The Captains will counter with left-hander Chuck Lofgren (1-0, 1.42). First pitch on Monday night is at 7:05 p.m. with on-air time at 6:50 p.m. on 1310 WADB and www.blueclaws.com.

This season, the Lakewood BlueClaws are celebrating their fifth anniversary of providing great fun in the Jersey sun. Among the great promotions, fireworks every Friday night home game and kids eat free Monday Nights courtesy of Shop Rite. In addition, the BlueClaws will host games against the New York Mets affiliate.
