Corpus Christi Hooks News Release
CORPUS CHRISTI - Despite tallying 10 hits Friday, the Hooks dropped game two of a four-game set against the Frisco RoughRiders at Whataburger Field, 7-2.
The Riders tagged starter Carson LaRue for six runs on 10 hits over the first 5.0 frames. Charles LeBlanc, Josh Altmann and Tony Sanchez hit three consecutive doubles in the second to give them a 3-1 lead.
Corpus Christi, again playing as the Blue Ghosts, could never recover from the deficit. A Joshua Rojas RBI double in the second made it a 3-2 game, but Frisco starter Edgar Arredondo never faltered further. He struck out five with no walks over 5.0 innings, despite allowing nine of the 10 Ghosts hits.
Blake Bass and Peter Fairbanks proceeded to shut Corpus down over the final 4.0 stanzas, allowing just two men to reach base.
Rojas was 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles in the game. Abraham Toro went 2-for-3 with a walk, extending his hitting streak to 10 games.
Preston Beck was 3-for-4 with a walk and two RBIs in the win for Frisco.
A pair of top organizational arms will square off Saturday at 7:15 p.m. Righty J.B. Bukauskas (0-3, 6.90), ranked the third-best pitcher in the Houston system, will go for the Blue Ghosts. Texas's No. 5 pitcher Jonathan Hernandez (2-3, 6.19) will toe the rubber for Frisco. The first 4,000 fans at Whataburger Field will receive a Blue Ghosts Dri-Fit shirt, presented by HMG.
