Winnipeg Blue Bombers News Release
WINNIPEG, MB - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers return home to Canad Inns Stadium on Friday night for a crucial battle against the Montreal Alouettes. Home field advantage has been important for the Blue and Gold as their three wins this season have all come with the fans on their side.
The game will feature the top two rated quarterbacks in the league as Steven Jyles' QB rating is second only to Montreal's Anthony Calvillo. Running back Fred Reid will look to make it three straight 100-yard rushing games and the defence will be looking to keep up their dominance as they have allowed only 19 points in their last two games.
Kickoff is set for 7:00pm on Friday, September 24th and fans are encouraged to bring school supplies to the game as the Public Service Alliance of Canada has teamed up with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers to present the School Supply Drive in support of children's education in Winnipeg's inner city.
Local rock band Waterfront Drive will be performing on the west side stage beside the Bomber Store and the Khartum Shriners Drum Corp will be entertaining fans on the south side as they enter the stadium grounds.
At halftime, fans will be treated to Tim Bits Soccer presented by Gameday Sponsor Tim Horton's.
As always, gates open at 5:30pm for season ticket holders and at 6pm for the general public. Fans wishing to bike to the game are encouraged to leave their bikes with Bicycle Valet Winnipeg on the east side which will be open one hour before kickoff. Bikes can be picked up anytime until 30 minutes after the game ends.
Tickets for the game are available by visiting www.ticketmaster.ca or by calling 780-3333. Fans can also purchase Blue and Gold vouchers from any Safeway location.
On Saturday, September 25th, Blue Bomber quarterback and recent Manitoba Wildlife Federation member Buck Pierce will be on hand at Oak Hammock Marsh from 12:30pm until 3:30pm for the 2nd Annual Provincial Hunting Day celebration. The event goes from 10:00am until 4:00pm and will feature a variety of fun and exciting activities for the whole family. For more information, visit www.mwf.mb.ca or call 204-633-5967.
