Winnipeg Blue Bombers News Release
WINNIPEG, MB. - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are proud to partner with Manitoba Blue Cross to honour frontline workers as part of the Club's 2020 Heroes of Champions Way campaign.
Over the last few weeks, the team asked fans to submit nominations of family and friends who are combating the pandemic and working on the front lines to help keep us all safe and healthy. This #HeroesForTheW campaign has resulted in well over 100 submissions of incredible Manitobans selflessly being real-life heroes for us all.
Three of those submissions were chosen to be turned into comic book-style superheroes created by Athlitacomic which will be integrated into the team's Heroes of Champions Way campaign along with players and mascots. Allison Zimmer, a nurse, Ken Oberlin, a postal worker, and Justin Malec, a Constable with the Winnipeg Police Service, were selected to represent all frontline workers and be turned into superheroes.
Additionally, the Club will be posting a number of the other submissions on social media platforms over the next few weeks leading up to the reveal of the three new superheroes.
